That waltz-y beginning is the perfect introduction to inmediately give off mildly omnious yet playful vibes.

Super glad you enjoyed! That’s exactly what I was going for and glad it could deliver! :)
Is that i-VI-VII-V in the first and last parts? that's one of my favorite chord progressions!
The dynamics between each part are fantastic as well, I could perfectly picture this as the ost of a short game.
4:05 hey is that a slightly happier version of one of the magic of childhood leitmotifs? Neat detail if that's the case ;)
Super glad you enjoyed! That chord progression is one of my favs, especially for cinematic pieces. Also, you did hear a Magic of Childhood leitmotif at 4:05! I use that in a ton of my pieces, so you’ll probably here it pop up a bunch, even if just as a countermelody sometimes :)
VERY y2k, it's very relaxing too, I'm particularly enjoying those short pad only segments as they help selling that early 00's vibe, and the more intense parts like the one starting at 2:52 help giving it some dynamism, which I really appreciate.
Never been super into sonic, but it's music and these kinds of arrangements make me want to get into it eventually.
What a kickass ost.
Sonic 3 and knuckles is my all time favorite sonic game. I don't think I'd even like the franchise without that game. And yes the music is always awesome!
I would have liked if this was a lil bit more dynamic as it feels a bit too repetitive for it's lenght (it's mostly a thing about intense volume changes I would have liked to see, it's got some dcent variantion between slower and faster parts), but it's a very solid track anyway, it really has that heroic/climaxy feeling you describe on it.
And you're right! This song isn't somthing I spent alot of time on. Mostly just to get somthing down since I don't record nearly as much as I did years ago. Mostly for background music so being repetitive is the goal. I appreciate your review!
Well that escalated quickly.
I enjoyed this series and while I was expecting a more relatable ending (as save for the boy's father being killed by his brother it had been a pretty relatable coming of age story until this point) this was a well deserved grand finale, perfect for the roller coaster of emotions this series was, and this song alone is a rollercoaster of emotions on itself.
I'm impressed on how you mixed the spanish vibes with some jrpg battle theme vibes, and how you used melodies from previous installments, it really added to the conclusive feeling.
Super glad you enjoyed the grand finale! This entire series is very loosely based around the story of my upbringing (everyone in my family is still alive and I’m a very nonviolent individual, but many thematic messages presented are felt by me; I’m not looking for revenge or anything, and I’m only 16 years old so who knows what the future looks like), but the story of the awkward upbringing is very much related to me at each year of my youth. The emotions I feel are the ones presented in these pieces, but not for the same reasons. On a different note, THANK YOU for continuing to the end of the series! The continued reviews mean a lot to me! My normal writing style is everything in this series plus more, so stick around if you enjoyed The Magic of Childhood! :)
God, you can cut the tension this track evokes with a knife.
This just screams anticipation for something really big, I LOVE how you used jrpg battle theme elements for this, on top of the dissonances to generate tension, really impressive job on this one.
Super glad you enjoyed the piece! The battle elements were just a bit of foreshadowing, and technically take place in the boy’s mind-scape! :)
I like to believe that music box melody comes from a music box from the toy box.
Not a huge fan of the melody personally as it's a bit too happy for my liking, but it does fit with the theme perfectly. On the other hand that more intense part starting at 2:26 was fantastic, I'm associating it to the boy's father as it has a similar melody (or is it just the scale? not sure :P) to a view to death.
It is coming from a music box in his toybox! The theme used at 2:26 is the theme of naiveness in the boy’s life, mostly seen with earlier entries in the series. Here, however, it is used to demonstrate a naiveness to being a fatherless child, which he still hasn’t figured out. SUPER glad you enjoyed the piece! It means quite a deal to me! :)
For an akward song this sounds quite elegant, something you'd hear in a library or something similar in one of those 2012 rpg maker games, the third segment feels less elegant but idk if I'd call it exactly akward, but it does capture that happiness of a teenage romance so it's a great installment as always anyway.
At least one part of this boy's coming of age story isn't sad or painful somehow, yes, I know, it gets worse later on.
Also great use of a non conventional time signature.
Super glad you enjoyed! I based this entry on my own experience with dating at the age of 14... ‘twas an awkward yet enjoyable time! These reviews mean a lot to me as a creator, thank you for leaving them! :)
This one sounds pretty happy, happier than the previous song that's for sure, probably as the protagonist is remembering his happier years.
I would complain about it being a bit repetitive but honestly the dynamic between the calm and more intense parts manages to compensate it.
Glad you enjoyed! Only so many happy moments exist, so one is bound to think of them in the same way. That’s why it’s a bit repetitive!
Lurker mostly, I like music, pixel art and horror art. Sometimes I create content too.
English isn't my native language so sorry in advance if I sound ruder than intended.
