Well that escalated quickly.
I enjoyed this series and while I was expecting a more relatable ending (as save for the boy's father being killed by his brother it had been a pretty relatable coming of age story until this point) this was a well deserved grand finale, perfect for the roller coaster of emotions this series was, and this song alone is a rollercoaster of emotions on itself.
I'm impressed on how you mixed the spanish vibes with some jrpg battle theme vibes, and how you used melodies from previous installments, it really added to the conclusive feeling.

Super glad you enjoyed the grand finale! This entire series is very loosely based around the story of my upbringing (everyone in my family is still alive and I’m a very nonviolent individual, but many thematic messages presented are felt by me; I’m not looking for revenge or anything, and I’m only 16 years old so who knows what the future looks like), but the story of the awkward upbringing is very much related to me at each year of my youth. The emotions I feel are the ones presented in these pieces, but not for the same reasons. On a different note, THANK YOU for continuing to the end of the series! The continued reviews mean a lot to me! My normal writing style is everything in this series plus more, so stick around if you enjoyed The Magic of Childhood! :)

God, you can cut the tension this track evokes with a knife.
This just screams anticipation for something really big, I LOVE how you used jrpg battle theme elements for this, on top of the dissonances to generate tension, really impressive job on this one.

theweathermanYT responds:

Super glad you enjoyed the piece! The battle elements were just a bit of foreshadowing, and technically take place in the boy’s mind-scape! :)

I like to believe that music box melody comes from a music box from the toy box.
Not a huge fan of the melody personally as it's a bit too happy for my liking, but it does fit with the theme perfectly. On the other hand that more intense part starting at 2:26 was fantastic, I'm associating it to the boy's father as it has a similar melody (or is it just the scale? not sure :P) to a view to death.

theweathermanYT responds:

It is coming from a music box in his toybox! The theme used at 2:26 is the theme of naiveness in the boy’s life, mostly seen with earlier entries in the series. Here, however, it is used to demonstrate a naiveness to being a fatherless child, which he still hasn’t figured out. SUPER glad you enjoyed the piece! It means quite a deal to me! :)

For an akward song this sounds quite elegant, something you'd hear in a library or something similar in one of those 2012 rpg maker games, the third segment feels less elegant but idk if I'd call it exactly akward, but it does capture that happiness of a teenage romance so it's a great installment as always anyway.
At least one part of this boy's coming of age story isn't sad or painful somehow, yes, I know, it gets worse later on.
Also great use of a non conventional time signature.

Super glad you enjoyed! I based this entry on my own experience with dating at the age of 14... ‘twas an awkward yet enjoyable time! These reviews mean a lot to me as a creator, thank you for leaving them! :)

This one sounds pretty happy, happier than the previous song that's for sure, probably as the protagonist is remembering his happier years.
I would complain about it being a bit repetitive but honestly the dynamic between the calm and more intense parts manages to compensate it.

theweathermanYT responds:

Glad you enjoyed! Only so many happy moments exist, so one is bound to think of them in the same way. That’s why it’s a bit repetitive!

Sounds oddly heroic yet dark in a "the hero riding a horse to an uncertain fate" kind of way, which makes sense as the character has still some happiness but is gradually losing it, and the scale used here kind of gives me off a spanish vibe.
But yeah, that final part really sets the mood for the story you described, if anything I would associate that cresendo at the end combined with the intense percussion and trumpets to a desire of revenge, or plainly very intense rage and hatred on top of the sadness from right after the gunshot.

theweathermanYT responds:

Glad you enjoyed! The Spanish vibe is intentional, which should give this whole story some setting... keep returning and more will be revealed...

Your hability to use music to tell stories is really impressive, these songs hit hard.

theweathermanYT responds:

Glad you enjoyed! The stories often aren’t heard in these, and I’m glad you hear it! I’ll return soon with more stories :)

The way in which the song starts so grand and gradually becomes sadder and sadder is fantastic, even then it manages to be a beautifully nostalgic piece.

theweathermanYT responds:

Glad you enjoyed! I will return from my hiatus soon to produce some more in this series :)

Fantastic song! I really love the buildup and the contrast between intense and slower parts, it keeps a pretty interesting dynamic despite being a mostly calm track, if anything I was expecting a more aggresive drop in the 2:00 mark.
I'm not really well versed on electronic music (or music in general) to make a more elaborate comment unfortunately.

VorticityMusic responds:

Thanks for the kind words! The two minute mark was *supposed* to be a kind of breakdown, but it isn't really that good on reflection xD. That being said, I'm pretty pleased with most other parts of the song.

Lurker mostly, I like music, pixel art and horror art. Sometimes I create content too.
English isn't my native language so sorry in advance if I sound ruder than intended.
